Nomad SPS is a specialist project planning and controls consultancy purpose-built for mission-critical delivery. We combine deep technical understanding of data-centre construction and commissioning with proprietary technology — Noumarix and Nomad Syncra, built and used by our own team — to give clients programme certainty where it is otherwise hard to come by.

Our practitioners have delivered planning and controls on more than 13 hyperscale data-centre programmes for Microsoft, Stack Infrastructure, and NextDC — 700 MW+ of total programme capacity and $2.1B+ of combined project value. We help clients win tenders and deliver jobs, and build the in-house planning capacity that lets them do it repeatably.

A schedule is only as good as the plan behind it — and the plan is only credible when built on a deep understanding of how the project will actually be constructed, integrated, and commissioned.

The schedule should be your main coordination and communication tool — not a compliance artefact. It has to be built on a deep understanding of how the project is going to be delivered.

Microsoft Melbourne Programme

Challenge

A $900M+ hyperscale programme within Microsoft's Australian cloud expansion — 324 MW across MEL04, MEL05, and MEL11 under sophisticated schedule and reporting standards new to the Australian market, with strict handover gates, defined pre-commissioning milestones, and client-caused delays layered on top.

Outcome

Baseline approvals achieved against a Microsoft reporting standard. Programme delivered against operator commitments despite strict handover gates and client-caused delays — the head contractor emerged with strengthened planning capability, a protected client relationship, and follow-on scope secured.

Approach

  1. 01Built an in-house planning capability inside Kapitol — recruited, structured, and operated so mission-critical planning became a repeatable head-contractor capability.
  2. 02Engineered the master programme against Microsoft's design, handover, and pre-commissioning standards — L1–L5 sequencing that cleared baseline approval under operator scrutiny.
  3. 03Established a reporting rhythm compliant with Microsoft's schedule reporting standard — cadence, format, and traceability aligned from cycle one.
  4. 04Modelled and absorbed client-caused delays without compromising handover — quantified impact, mitigation options, and joint-resolution routes surfaced in real time.

Erilyan × Stack Infrastructure

Stack MEL01 & MEL02 Campus

MEL01 A–D · MEL02 Stage B · 288 MW · $1B+ combined

Challenge

Launch and expansion of Melbourne's largest hyperscale data-centre campus — 72 MW at Stages A & B, growing to 180 MW with Stages C & D, plus a further 108 MW at MEL02 Stage B — $1B+ of combined value across an aggressive operator programme with parallel construction, commissioning, and live-site handover spanning successive stages.

Outcome

Successive stages delivered against operator commitments. MEL01 expanded to 180 MW total; MEL02 Stage B added a further 108 MW. Erilyan emerged with a planning capability calibrated to Stack's operator standard — translating into follow-on stages, a protected relationship, and $1B+ of preserved programme value.

Approach

  1. 01Built an in-house planning capability inside Erilyan — coached and operated through successive Stack MEL01 stages into MEL02B, scaling with the campus and workbook.
  2. 02End-to-end scheduling and controls integrating construction, MEP, and commissioning into a single defensible master programme across the campus and MEL02B.
  3. 03LLE/OFCI tracked from purchase order through FAT, shipping, and site receipt so long-lead items drove logic instead of surprising it.
  4. 04Weekly and monthly reporting tuned for both the delivery team and the operator's programme forums — same data, resolution shifted to fit each audience.
  5. 05Pragmatic delay management — early risk flagging, quantified mitigation, and active end-client engagement so issues became joint problems, not adversarial positions.

Delays are inevitable. Disputes are optional. The difference is how early they are surfaced and how transparently they are managed.
