Project controls that demonstrate control — to every level of stakeholder.

Controls exist to answer two questions with evidence: where is the programme, and what are we doing about it? Nomad SPS runs project controls on mission-critical programmes where those answers face operator-grade scrutiny — $2.1B+ of hyperscale delivery for Microsoft, Stack Infrastructure, and NextDC through their head contractors.

Controls built on the schedule, not beside it

Our controls discipline flows from a single defensible master programme: progress measurement against baseline, variance analysis with narratives that explain cause rather than restate numbers, and forecasting that the delivery team actually recognises as their plan.

Where organisations run controls as a parallel bureaucracy, disputes incubate. Where controls flow from the coordination tool everyone already works to, issues surface early enough to resolve.

The reporting rhythm

We establish a weekly and monthly cadence tuned for each audience — the same underlying data, shifted in resolution: field-level lookaheads for site teams, milestone and float trajectories for project leadership, and operator-format reporting for end clients, including compliance with formal schedule reporting standards such as Microsoft's.

Delay and change, managed early

Delays are inevitable; disputes are optional. Our controls capture delay events as they emerge, quantify impact against the baseline, and surface mitigation options while they are still cheap. The record that accumulates is the same record that protects entitlement if a claim ever becomes necessary.

Common questions

What is the difference between project controls and project management?

Project management decides and directs; project controls measures, forecasts, and informs those decisions with evidence. Strong controls make a project manager's commitments defensible — schedule position, cost exposure, and trend, all traceable to data.

What does a project controls consultant actually do week to week?

Setup of coding, calendars, progress rules and a defensible baseline; a weekly/monthly reporting rhythm tuned per audience; variance analysis with cause and mitigation options; and a forecast the delivery team will defend. The longer explanation is in our insight: What Does a Project Controls Consultant Actually Do?

Can you set up controls on a project that has already started?

Yes — a mid-programme controls reset is common. We rebuild the baseline position from records, re-establish progress rules, and stand up the reporting rhythm. It is harder than starting clean, but far cheaper than finishing without control.

Do you provide controls staff or a managed service?

Both. We run controls as a managed service on some programmes and place controls leads inside client teams on others — usually with the explicit goal of leaving a working in-house capability behind.
